Rittal and SFC Energy conclude cooperation agreement to develop and distribute integrated fuel cell system solutions

  • Both companies’ combined expertise creates efficient autonomous power suppy solutions
  • Power range 25 W to 500 W
  • EFOY ProCabinet, first cooperation result, on show at Hanover Fair

Herborn and Brunnthal/Munich, Germany, April 23, 2012 – Rittal GmbH & Co. KG, world leading supplier of enclosures, power distribution, climate control, and IT infrastructure, and SFC Energy AG, technology and market leader in mobile and remote power solutions based on fuel cells, have concluded a cooperation agreement to together develop and distribute integrated fuel cell system solutions in a power range from 25 W to 500 W on the basis of SFC’s DMFC (direct methanol fuel cell) technology.

In the framework of the agreement, Rittal’s commercial enclosure technology expertise is combined with SFC’s innovative fuel cell know how and long application experience to develop and produce outdoor power supply solutions for industrial applications. Both companies expect synergies in customer acquisition due to the advantages these solutions offer their users: Rittal’s enclosure technology customers profit from the reliable, environmentally friendly, weather independent SFC power generators, SFC fuel cell users benefit from Rittal’s expertise in building compact, robust enclosure solutions with full outdoor capabilities.

As a first result of their cooperation, at Hanover Fair, Rittal and SFC will present EFOY ProCabinet, an individually adjustable, integrated outdoor power solution for autonomous electricity generation with EFOY Pro fuel cell generators in a Rittal enclosure. Just like an “off-grid power socket”, EFOY ProCabinet provides reliable, weather independent power for industrial applications and stand-alone systems in traffic management, railway technology, oil & gas, and wind industry applications, and as back up power supply for critical infrastructure and telecommunication systems.

“Operators of remote off-grid industry systems require reliable power generation and distribution in an integrated package which ensures 24/7 operation of their devices in any weather and season, and is easy to install and operate“, explains Dr. Thomas Steffen, President International R&D, Quality and Service at Rittal GmbH & Co. KG. “Out of our combined expertise we can offer customized solutions for these requirements.”

“The fuel cell generator simply is the best technology for off-grid electricity generation, as it provides power for months on end without requiring maintenance or user intervention, featuring convenient remote control”, says Dr. Peter Podesser, CEO of SFC Energy AG. “Integrated into the proven, market leading Rittal Outdoor Systems it represents a highly attractive solution for operators of off-grid equipment.”

Interested parties can experience the new EFOY ProCabinet live at the Rittal booth F14 in hall 11, at Hanover Fair, April 23 to 27.
