SFC Energy: Power supply with hydrogen fuel cell qualified for use in outdoor telecom and BOS digital radio systems

  • In tests at DLR (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt), the Jupiter hydrogen fuel cell-based energy solution developed by SFC Energy and adKor proves its power supply robustness in outdoor telecom and BOS digital radio systems.
  • Reliable full-load operation at temperatures from -33 ºC to +46 ºC.
  • SFC Energy presents autonomous energy solutions from 40 W to 20 kW at Intersolar /The smarter E Europe, booth C2.518.

Brunnthal/Munich, Germany, May 14, 2019 - SFC Energy AG (F3C:DE, ISIN: DE0007568578), a leading provider of hybrid power solutions to the stationary and mobile power generation markets, has reached another important milestone in the commercialization of reliable off-grid and back-up power solutions for demanding applications: In extensive tests at DLR (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt) in Stuttgart, the Jupiter hydrogen fuel cell-based power solution developed by SFC Energy and adKor was technically accepted and qualified for outdoor use in telecom and BOS digital radio systems.

In these applications, the Jupiter fuel cell hardens the system's power supply. It features a reliable full-load operation at temperatures from -33 ºC to +46 ºC, thus securing an uninterrupted operation of communication equipment even in extremely difficult environmental conditions. This robustness was demonstrated in climate tests on a complete power system integrated into a weatherproof VERTIV cabinet. The tests proved the Jupiter fuel cell-based energy system's compliance with the climate regulations of several national, European and international telecommunication standards.

"The Jupiter fuel cell has proven its valor under toughest conditions", says Hartmut Kordus, Managing Director of adKor GmbH. "Our fully integrated, remote-controlled cabinet solutions are successfully ensuring months of autonomy in many radio systems in the market. We are excited to push their commercialization even further with SFC Energy."

"The telecom and BOS digital radio product qualification is an important milestone for us", says Dr. Peter Podesser, CEO of SFC Energy. "In these fast-growing markets systems have to perform autonomously and interruption-free over long periods of time. Conventional power solutions cannot ensure this high operational security. Fuel cells are a reliable, environmentally friendly alternative, while at the same time offering attractive cost and logistics benefits. We expect this latest product qualification to open additional ways for our fuel cells in new demanding industry applications."

The Jupiter hydrogen fuel cell expands SFC Energy's comprehensive product portfolio with high power solutions. The Company's offer of direct methanol and hydrogen fuel cells now covers a power spectrum from 40 W to 20 kW, for highly reliable, application specific off-grid and back-up solutions in a great variety of power scenarios.

Customers in a variety of countries are already using SFC Energy power solutions in telecommunications, oil & gas, traffic technology, environmental engineering, defense & security, clean energy & mobility.

At Intersolar / The smarter E Europe in Munich, from May 15 to 17, SFC Energy showcases the Company's portfolio of autonomous power supply solutions with methanol and hydrogen fuel cells at booth C2.518.
