Green construction site of the future: Construction company LEONHARD WEISS uses H₂Genset power generator with hydrogen fuel cells by SFC Energy for sustainable energy supply

Brunnthal/Munich, Germany, November 03, 2022 – LEONHARD WEISS, one of Germany’s largest construction companies, is using the H₂Genset by SFC Energy (F3C:DE, ISIN: DE0007568578), a leading supplier of hydrogen and methanol fuel cells for stationary and mobile hybrid power solutions, for sustainable power supply of office containers, sanitary facilities and construction machinery at a construction site in Durlesbach.

The requirements of the family-owned company were demanding: emission-free and CO2-free power generation on the construction site, mobile use even at undeveloped sites, economical and demand-oriented power generation, minimal maintenance requirements and no noise emissions. SFC Energy’s H₂Genset meets these requirements and delivers emission-free, mobile power that can also be used off-grid, with no noise emissions and minimal maintenance.

“The H₂Genset is the perfect solution for the current challenges in the construction industry regarding sustainable site power supply. The savings from using an H₂Genset compared to a 10 kW diesel generator is 91.1 tons of CO2 per year. The use of the H₂Genset on the construction site shows how uncomplicated, useful and sustainable our multiple award-winning products are, even under extreme conditions. Hardly any maintenance work, no CO2-emissions and noise-free operation are a perfect fit for the ‘green construction site of the future’. Thus we make a significant contribution in the global Race-to-Zero,” says Dr. Peter Podesser, CEO of SFC Energy AG.

LEONHARD WEISS is one of the most efficient and successful construction companies in Germany and realizes numerous construction sites every year in track infrastructure construction, road and network construction as well as in civil engineering and turnkey construction. However, the construction industry is also one of the most energy-intensive sectors in Europe. The family-owned company is aware of this fact and is therefore breaking new ground on the subject of power generation, among other things.

“We need a lot of energy to realize our construction sites. We welcome alternatives like the H₂Genset to reduce our carbon footprint and to make our work on construction sites more sustainable, innovative and quiet,” emphasizes Tobias Schroth, machine technology employee at LEONHARD WEISS.

Currently, three models of the SFC Energy H₂Genset are available with peak powers ranging from 10 kW to 20 kW; the market launch of a fourth model with a peak power of more than 50 kW is planned for 2023.
