What role do you have at SFC?

Matthias Zipfel: My name is Matthias Zipfel, and I’ve been working at SFC since 01.06.2017. In my role as an application engineer, I develop and build customer-specific, off-grid energy solutions with our direct methanol fuel cells. Since I grew up in Namibia, I have always been aware of the importance and need for off-grid energy in remote regions.

Why did you apply to join SFC?

Matthias Zipfel: SFC stood out when I was looking for a job because it develops and manufactures innovative products in Germany and sells them all over the world. It also sets new standards in the field of fuel cell technology.

What convinced you to choose SFC as your new employer?

Matthias Zipfel: The overall character of the company, and of course SFC’s products, immediately persuaded me to start out here and become part of this company.

What has your academic and professional career been like so far?

Matthias Zipfel: My training as industrial electronics engineer and my further training as an electrical engineer in Germany have given me the advantage that I can work in virtually any branch of industry. After just under ten years in various sectors of the automotive industry, I wanted a new, exciting and most importantly future-focused role. In SFC, I found an employer that met all of my search criteria.

What do you value about SFC as an employer, and why would you recommend SFC to others?
