Vehicle-based SFC fuel cells for defense purposes – Power anytime, anywhere
Soldiers in the field need a dependable power source for their vehicles. They have to supply current to such on-board devices as radio, communications equipment, weapons systems, and electronic optical systems. But they also have to act as a charging station for soldiers on a mission, if need be.
The Problem:
It’s often not possible on a mission to start a vehicle’s engine just to charge batteries because it might betray the unit’s position. Hence, soldiers need a way to obtain electrical current quietly, continually and independently.
The Solution:The vehicle-based EMILY 2200 fuel cell by SFC
The company’s EMILY 2200 is based on SFC’s successful EFOY fuel-cell technology. Installed in a vehicle, the EMILY unit will make sure that batteries stay charged. Its built-in regulator continually monitors battery voltage and recharges the battery fully automatically whenever necessary. It runs quietly and its only “emissions” are water vapor and carbon dioxide in an amount comparable to a child’s breath.
Approved for use in the German Armed Forces
EMILY 2200 has been successfully qualified for military use by the Bundeswehr technical center 41. Therefore, EMILY 2200 is officially approved for use in the German Armed Forces
