The FC 250 fuel-cell system by SFC – The technology
The FC 250 fuel-cell system integrates commercial EFOY fuel-cell technology into a light charging device for demanding defense applications. Like all other SFC fuel cells, the FC 250 utilizes the direct-methanol method, transforming the energy contained in liquid methanol into electrical current in a single, efficient step.
The FC 250 fuel-cell system in use
The FC 250 fuel cell can be used in two ways:
- As an on-board power source in a vehicle – The FC 250 fuel-cell system can fit into the storage space in larger military vehicles and can connect to all types of batteries. It continually monitors their voltage level and recharges them as needed fully automatically. Two people can easily carry an FC fuel-cell system. Its nominal output of 250 watts plus its daily capacity of 6 kilowatt hours means that it can deliver power to a number of devices.
- As a power source for chargers such as the Bren-Tronics and for all kinds of batteries. Under this scenario, the FC 250 fuel-cell system’s load management assures that the device reacts adequately to changes at the output ports.
- As a field charging device – The FC 250 fuel-cell system can do duty in huts, tents, military stations, and igloo; providing quiet and dependable power on site.
